I visited Nigeria and was very
impressed by the women.
Unfortunately it was not
possible to take pictures of
them, so I have painted them
from memory, using the
characters and situations that
inspired me.
They dress in a wonderfully
colourful way, and carry their
children throughout the day,
even when working. The
rhythmical sense of their
dancing fascinated and
captivated me.
I hope to have captured some
of their spirit and joy in my
canvasses.
